In our economy? We’ve all heard experts say that it will get worse before it gets better. I have heard about how it will take Obama at least 18 months in the White House to make a noticeable change in our day to day lives. We’ve heard about the check that we are supposed to be receiving this coming year. I know that I keep reading about all the plans that the president elect has in store for the American people. Hopefully he follows through with all of his promises. I voted for him to get the republicans out of office but I would have much rather gone with someone from an independent party instead.
For myself and most of the people I know things are a lot worse then they have been in quite a while, financially speaking that is. Creating new jobs is number one in my book. When college educated people are leaving (by leaving I mean laid off) jobs paying upwards of 60, 80 grand a year and higher taking jobs paying $8 an hour I know we have a serious issue on our hands.
Time is running out on many people. The past eight years of job loss and financial ruin for thousands of people will not turn around over night. If there was ever a time for the lower to beyond low class to rise up it is now. Unfortunately we don’t live in a country like that. We let our “leaders” do as they please and hope someone will come in and fix the mess. Obama, fix this mess.

I’m told that I’m anti Christmas by my girlfriend. She is all about the lights, decorations and tree and I would rather not bother with it. I’m not sure if this makes me the scrooge that she claims I am but more of someone who hates bothering with all the mess. Part of me feels like my anti religious (especially Christian) beliefs should keep me away from celebrating the holiday. Then there are the thoughts that it’s no longer about the religious aspects. Well than that means it’s now more about the commercial/capitalist part of the holiday which I’m equally against. Having a new baby makes my girlfriend really eager to make his first Christmas special. I look at it like we are starting a tradition of lying to him about something that holds no special meaning to either of us. (Seeing as how she too is anti commercialism and anti christian)
I like the caring and giving that goes on during the holiday but I also feel like it becomes a time that you are supposed to give and care so people neglect that throughout the rest of the year. Almost an attitude like “I’ll just do my part around the holidays”. I’m not against the idea of Christmas but part of me feels hypocritical to celebrate it.

Not too long ago, before I had my girlfriend and son I would eat a little dinner all by myself on Thanksgiving. It consisted of of some veggie turkey slices, instant mash potatoes, bread and gravy for my traditional open faced “turkey” sandwich. Now I have things a little better. Today we made some Tofurky, mash potatoes (not the instant kind
), candied yams, garlicky greens, biscuits, gravy, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Yes things have improved a whole lot over the years. Our day started with all of us sleeping in until 11am. I have not slept in that late in as long as I can remember. Food preparation started kind of late but we were still at the table eating by 3:30, not too bad considering those people who eat dead animals have to get up and start making their food around seven in the morning. I used to hate this holiday but I’m starting to like it, although it’s roots are based from a time that was drenched in thievery and genocide.

This coming Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year has been designated now as two things that are the complete opposite of capitalism, buy nothing day and fur free Friday. To be honest I’m not sure when buy nothing day started but I remember fur free Friday starting back in the mid 90’s. The purpose of fur free Friday was to get out and protest one of the sickest industries in the world today, obviously the fur industry. The thought was on the supposed biggest shopping day of the year we in the animal rights community could get our message out to more people since more people are out that day. Buy nothing day is a response the the consumer filled day that the has become. Before people ask what the point of buying nothing is when you’re just going to buy stuff the following days or weeks it is meant as more of a statement day than anything else. So this Friday keep in mind that while you may be going out on a day long adventure looking for all those great 50% off deals that there are bigger and better causes being fought for than finding the best deal in the store.

I’m not religious but DEAR GOD can these people shut up. I’ve read some of the dumbest comments about those in favor of drilling the life out of mother earth. People honestly think that the thought of offshore drilling dropped the oil prices giving us the lower prices we see today. WRONG. The price of oil has always been pure speculation by Wall Street and there has never been a good justification for the soaring prices that left many people unable to fill up their gas tanks. Now that speculation just so happens to be going the opposite way and we are seeing declines in record time. But for those people who think that if and when the offshore drilling plans stop that the prices will skyrocket again, you are dumb as dirt. The oil that could be retrieved from our shores is not enough to last more than a few years and even if we drilled starting right now it wouldn’t be readily available for 10 years or so. So to end this rant of hatred towards the stupid population of America… LEARN THE TRUTH OR SHUT UP!

Make sure that when planning your Thanksgiving dinner this year you think of the life that is most affected, the Turkey. This country (The United States) slaughters around 300 million turkeys a year and about 46 million of those are for this time of year. Turkeys are amongst the most tortured animals raised for food. They live their lives crammed into crowded cages only to be transported in extreme temperatures with no protection from the elements. You can save some of these wonderful animals by cutting out their flesh from your holiday plans. Try alternatives like Tofurky instead of traditional meat based meals. Turn this Thanksgiving into a time that every living being on this earth can be thankful, thankful to be alive.

A couple people obviously did not understand my blog about how fake and sickening these politicians are. I talked about how I felt about Obama playing nice with the Bush family. People would like to know what I would like him to do. Well how about when you meet act like you feel? Is that too much to do? If you hate the policies of a person and hate what they have done to that country is it out of the question to let your feelings show. I don’t get along with some of my family and while I’m not completely rude it can pretty much be seen how I feel. Obama should have made it as business like as he could have possibly done. Walked in, had the meeting and walked out. No need for Mrs. Obama to be kissing Mrs. Bush. No need for pats on the shoulder like George Doublya just made a good shot in a basketball game.
I want real people in office. I know I can’t have that so I’d be happy with someone who doesn’t talk about how horrible a person and their policies are and then acts like they are time friends.

Here it is nearly a week after getting Merlin the Pug. He has entered our family and fit right in. My son loves having a dog around seeing as how he is a natural born animal lover like his mom and dad. I was worried about how much of a change it would be in our lives but it hasn’t done much to disrupt it. Finding a permanent home for the cat food is the biggest problem. He’ll eat their food if left out on the floor so as of right now It is on the kitchen counter where he can’t get at it. Our fenced in yard has not come in to play yet because he doesn’t like to stay outside when we’re not with him. Possibly this will change when spring time and warmer weather comes. He has been a welcome addition and now we have the pleasure of knowing that a foster home has an opening for another Pug in need.

these politicians are. Obama and his wife kissing and hugging with the Bush family like they’re planning a camping trip together. I know I know, it’s politics and he/they must act this way. I’m telling you that I don’t buy it. I voted for Obama against my better judgement. I really wanted a third party candidate for this reason, the candidates that have a real shot at the White House have too much in common. I guess my reasoning of keeping McSame out and voting for a third party in 2012 is good enough for me–at least good enough for me to live with myself. Anyways, how can two people that have talked so much trash about each other over the past 2 years have such a lovey dovey meeting? Politics are for the hypocrites and insincere, period.

Well he is not exactly a puppy, he’s 6 to 7 years old but I still will call him a puppy. We are adding a new member to the family in the form of a little flat faced furry guy. We contacted a pug rescue and found a guy named Merlin that would fit our family perfectly. Good with kids, cats and every other living thing you can think of. Now we have, my girlfriend, my son, two cats (Mishka and Beingnet) Merlin the pug and of course myself. That’s one big family. we could have a show on that channel TLC like one of those families with 30 kids. Yesterday we went out a bought a toy for Merlin, a Micheal Vick chew toy. I loved it. It was $15, a lot more than most of the other toys but is was 100% worth it. I will keep everyone up to date on the new member of the fam. I hope we takes to us well and adjusts to his new home quickly.
