Being someone who has criticized this country for quite sometime, I’ve heard that favorite saying from the conservative right many a time. When you first hear it (my first time was probably a good 15 years ago) you wonder if they are on to something. “If I don’t like it here why should I stay?” Perhaps looking into an alternative country to live out the rest of my life would be the wise choice. Perhaps I’m just not looking for what America has to offer. Then sanity sets in and you realize those people are dumb as dirt. You realize that if everyone just left when they did not like it, nothing changes, lives don’t improve. Women voters are sure as hell happy that the majority of those who did not love it, did not leave it. Your child that doesn’t work the coal mines may be happy as well. Blacks that were freed from a life of slavery are pretty happy about people willing to change, not leave their country. Come to think of it, the conservatives that want everyone to leave should leave themselves. I say that if your not willing to help change the country we live in, then get out. “change it or leave it” is the new slogan. Blind patriotism is far from being patriotic, it is allowing tyranny.
